Dear Friends:

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of you!!

The Gallagher family has been busy this past six months. Danny's oldest son, David, graduated from high school and is now in the Army at Ft. Sill and eventually will be stationed at Ft. Knox. Our son, Kelly, had an eventful summer. First he flew to Kentucky to stay with my parents, then my Dad and Kelly drove down here and stayed two weeks, then they both drove back to Kentucky and Kelly stayed 2 weeks, then Kelly flew back home. Kelly is in his first year of Junior High School (6th grade). Danny calls him "Mr. Hormone". While Kelly was gone, Danny and I flew to New York City and drove to Eddyville, NY, near Woodstock where Dan's aunt lives. We visited Woodstock, the Vanderbilt and Roosevelt mansions and all the upper New York tourist stops. Then we spent a wonderful night in New York City. We went to see the play TOMMY and ate at Planet Hollywood and rode a horse-drawn carriage in Central Park back to our hotel. That was really an experience! We had a free room at the Stanhope Hotel (courtesy of my boss' brother). It was located right across from the Met. Museum next to Central Park so it was even more extravagant! ! I was told we could have taken the robes - but we didn't - They were so big and our suitcases were so small- I was embarrassed to just carry them through the lobby! So we left New York robeless. Then on September 15th, Danny surprised me with a 15th anniversary dinner with all the kids and a limo ride to a really upscale Yuppie place in Boca Raton! Danny bought a 22' Hydrasport boat a few months ago (well, we are in Florida). He and the boys enjoy fishing in the ocean every chance they get.

The really BIG THING we did just recently was that we SURPRISED my Mom and Dad with a visit in Kentucky on their 50th Wedding Anniversary! We all (me, Dan, Kelly, Allison, Travis, Stephen, Cole, Mark and Kyle) arrived on November 27th (18 hours in a RV from Florida to Kentucky). We totally surprised them as did lots of their friends by sending cards, letters and flowers. They were married December 1, 1943. Our trip was uneventful and the weather was great and we all got along terrific. I couldn't have paid my grandsons to act as good as they did. We had the 5th generation slide down granny's stairs!!! It was a really GREAT trip!!

My daughter, Allison, thought this newsletter idea was so great that she started contacting her graduating class a few months ago and just sent out her first Newsletter! Her 10th anniversary is approaching - My God, am I THAT OLD!! No, No, my daughter is old, I'm still 17! Anyway, Allison got a lot of responses and she is going to give it a try. Of course it is nice to have access to our office computers. I remember when I started typing the newsletter I had my old Royal portable I got as a graduation gift from high school - no I didn't have a typewriter, I hand wrote everything - no, no - I hand wrote every letter and sent it out by pony express. Anyway, I'm proud that she is carrying on the torch.

My older sons, Mark and Kyle, are really busy with their furniture refinishing business. They got their foot in the door with the insurance companies and the past year has been very good. They have offered to buy the townhouse they are renting from us. They work for themselves, however, they do jobs for their father, CHUCK PECHULS, too, who is in the same business.
